Meditation for Stress Relief

Living in today’s high tech world stresses our bodies in ways our ancestors never experienced. The stress may be job-related or home-related or both. No matter what the source, stress depletes our energy and lessens the quality of our life.
For stress manage, some people seek out unhealthy solutions to stress such as smoking, excessive use of alcohol, antidepressant drugs, and over eating. While this may appear to temporarily lessen stress, over the long term it makes it worse.
However there are healthy ways in stress manage without resorting to prescription medications. One of these is meditation. Meditation is a relaxation technique, which brings the mind and body into a state of tranquility. Meditation has been practiced in Asia since ancient times.
Some people name it healing meditation, stress meditation, and anxiety meditation.
Meditation is cost less. Meditation techniques require no equipment and can be done by anyone. All you need is a time commitment.
Before you can practice meditation remember why you are practicing it and what benefits that you can get out of it.
Meditation is used by people interested addressing conditions such as anxiety, pain, depression, emotional problems, insomnia, and stress treatment. Meditation is also the ultimate brain workout.
The goal of meditation is not to have no thoughts (that is impossible) but to not interact with the thoughts that occur. If, while you are meditating, you start wondering when was the last time you changed the oil in your car, that is perfectly normal — just come back to your breathing and try not to ‘chase’ the thought how you can practice meditation for health.
Find a place where you can meditate that’s free of noise and other disruptions
Get comfortable. It is not required that you need to sit in cross legged position, you can also lie down comfortable take breath just observe your breath and remove all the thoughts that are coming in your mind.
In case if you are getting disturbed by thoughts you can imagine a dustbin in your mind and move your thoughts that are coming into that and finally take that dustbin out of you mind take deep breaths continuously till your mind is clear.
One thing that you need to remember is that you should never stop thoughts coming into your mind. In case if thoughts are coming let them come and then move them to your dustbin as you breathe, the breath will become shorter and shorter and finally vanish.
It may take a little practice for you to learn how to meditate in this way. If you encounter difficulties you can get help. If you live in an urban area, you will find many meditation classes available who can show you how to meditate. But if there are no classes near you, you can always purchase books and tapes. The tapes are guided meditation. You simply find a quiet place, assume the meditative posture, and then follow the instructions on the tape. There are also some meditation or relaxation music, CD or MP3 which can help you to reach the state of tranquility.
Then the magic begins as the cosmic energy will flow through your body cleaning your entire body and mind and it will heal, and ultimately you will call it healing meditation.
Do this daily you can achieve good health and mental stability.
